BMW Motorrad has done some major upgrades to the predecessors F 700 GS and F 800 GS. The most important upgrade is a bigger displacement 853 cc, DOHC, water cooled, in line 2 cylinder engine which replaces the older 798 cc engine. Even though both bikes share the same engine, the power output is different. The maximum power developed is 77 HP @ 7,500 rpm and 95 HP @ 8,250 rpm for F 750 GS & F 850 GS respectively. On similar lines, the peak torque figures are 83 Nm @ 6250 rpm and 92 Nm @ 6000 rpm. A crankshaft journal offset of 90 degrees and firing interval of 270/450 degrees gives a more powerful exhaust note. Also, the steel bridge frame in monocoque construction and the USD forks suspension ( 41 mm – F 750 GS & 43 mm – F 850 GS) provide riding precision and sensitive response. Both the bikes get ABS, ASC, ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ riding modes as standard. That’s not the end of the features list. There are several optional equipment too like BMW’s electronic suspension adjustment (ESA), Keyless Ride, eCall, Full LED headlight with LED DRLs, Gear shift assistant Pro, 6.5 inch full-colour TFT display, etc.
