The all new Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X was spied at a dealership recently which hints that a sportier version of the Thunderbird will be officially launched in the early weeks of first quarter of 2018 and infact some of the new bikes have already arrived at few dealerships. The price can be expected to be close to INR 2,25,000.
For all those awaiting an update from Royal Enfield, this could be a New Year surprise. The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X was spotted in 4 colour schemes – Orange, White, Yellow and Blue. From the pictures, it is pretty much clear that the 500X gets a funky coloured fuel tank, new flatter handlebar (compared to the on-going model), rear view mirrors (same as on Himalayan), single-piece seat, nine-spoke alloy wheels, thickset grab rails which merge with the taillight and a matte black finish on the headlamp casing, instrument cluster, engine, turn indicators, suspension and exhaust. Everything else will remain unchanged as the 500X borrows most of its mechanical components from existing Thunderbird.
The 500X will be powered by the same single cylinder, 4 stroke, air-cooled 499 cc engine which powers all 500 cc bikes from Royal Enfield. The engine produces a maximum power of 27.6 PS @ 5250 rpm and a peak torque of 41.3 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The chassis and the powertrain will also remain the same for 500X. The specifications will be updated once the bike is officially launched.
